The bird often inhabits what is referred to as an exclusive ‘territory’ – wherein it aggressively defends its habitat against other competitors and threats.

Despite their small size, kestrels are impeccable hunters, relying mostly on sight and their impressive agility to acquire food. When not feeding or defending its territory, the bird can usually be found perching in a high spot such as a tall tree or building roof – in order to keep vigil over its surroundings.
