Northern Flicker

The northern flicker is a species of woodpecker that can be found in much of North America. These interesting birds are most easily recognized by their bright red crescent-shaped marking beneath the nape of their neck, or the back of their head. Northern flickers are also known for having loud callings which can be heard from quite a distance away. All in all, these beautiful birds certainly make for an excellent addition to any North American landscape!
