Wanted: Northern Flicker Bubble-Free Stickers
The northern flicker is a type of woodpecker native to North America. It is recognized by its distinctive black spots and its red crescent across the back of the head. Northern flickers have strong feet, with two toes facing forward and two toes facing backward, allowing them to hang upside down from tree branches. They mostly subsist on ants they uncover while searching for food on the ground or in tree bark. In addition to these insects, northern flickers consume fruits, berries and nuts, often storing them away for later. This species mates for life and has their young around April-May of each year in underground nests in large trees and decaying logs. The female usually lays 6-9 eggs per clutch; after about 18 days hatching occurs, with the young leaving the nest three weeks later. All of this showcases how fascinating the northern flicker can be!
