The Whooping Crane is a bird that stands out from the rest. With its unique color and vocalizations, it's hard to miss the bird in its habitat.

Endangered since the 1940s, this bird mostly inhabits areas in central Canada and northern parts of the US. The bird averages five feet tall and spends most of its time wading in shallow waters looking for food such as insects, small amphibians, or small fish. It also takes advantage of agricultural fields when available, as it search for bug larvae or grains left behind. 

Whooping Cranes make their home among musk-oxen in mountainous regions but also move on to visit foreign territories throughout the year.
